It all began with Pap.
Glenn received his high school diploma from New Cumberland High School. After that, he spent two years in the army with eight weeks of Leadership School, after which he was an instructor of small weapons. Upon discharge, Glenn graduated as an apprentice in sign painting and other business signs. Glenn was the man behind the famous York Barbell, and that undertaking was one of his favorite signs he designed and engineered. He became a creative director and graphic design artist for an advertising company which is now known as Lamar. He retired in 1998 to be a full-time watercolor artist, and he received many awards.
Glenn was incredibly involved in the local art scene, hosting one-person shows throughout Central PA and beyond. He was a participating member of the York Art Association, Pennsylvania Watercolor Association, and the Baltimore Watercolor Association. On top of all that, he also had his own gallery in Goldsboro, PA, called Gallery 246.
Glenn Schlosser was the most important man in our owner, Mady Bertolette’s, life. Glenn was many things, but most significantly he was an artist. Please read his bio below to learn more about Mady’s Pap, and how he inspired her to open her own salon.
Sadly, Glenn passed away in April of 2021. Because Mady was always inspired by her Pap, she decided she would name her salon in honor of him and showcase his art in her studio.
